Jeep Rental in Tbilisi: Renegade, Cherokee or Wrangler?

Searching for a Jeep rental in Tbilisi? We have three Jeeps in our own fleet: the Renegade, the Cherokee and the Wrangler. Each one suits a different trip. The range goes from city days to gravel tracks in the high mountains. This post compares them with real daily rates, explains where each one shines, and shows what a week costs.

Jeep rental in Tbilisi: the three models

JeepClassDaily rateBest for
Jeep RenegadeCompact SUV$65City driving, Kakheti, Kazbegi in summer
Jeep CherokeeMid-size SUV$70Families, long motorway days, light gravel
Jeep WranglerOff-road 4x4$100Mountain tracks, Truso, Juta, Svaneti

Rates are per day, for any length of rental. Insurance and unlimited mileage are included, and a second driver is free. Pickup anywhere in Tbilisi city centre has no delivery fee. At Tbilisi Airport the handover costs $30 per end.

Jeep Renegade: the easy city Jeep

The Renegade is small outside and roomy inside. So it parks easily in Vake or Vera. It still has the height for potholes and monastery car parks. It is our cheapest Jeep at $65 a day, the same as a Duster. Choose it for Tbilisi, Mtskheta, Kakheti and the paved road to Kazbegi. Many of our guests book it for a first trip to Georgia because it feels familiar and safe.

Jeep Cherokee: comfort for four

The Cherokee is the comfortable choice. It has more space for four adults and their luggage. It also rides calmly on the motorway to Batumi or Kutaisi. At $70 a day, it also handles the gravel car parks and the last rough kilometres to sights such as Davit Gareja. For a family road trip on mostly paved roads, it is the Jeep we recommend.

Jeep Wrangler: the real off-roader

The Wrangler is the Jeep people picture. It is a true 4x4 with high clearance, short overhangs and a low-range gearbox. So it is a serious tool for gravel tracks such as Truso, Juta and the Ushguli road. It costs $100 a day. However, it is noisier and firmer on long motorway days. So book it for the mountains, not for the beach. Our Mestia and Ushguli 4x4 guide shows where it earns its price.

What a week with a Jeep costs

Here is a common plan. You collect a Cherokee in Tbilisi city centre. Then you drive to Kazbegi and Kakheti and return it after seven days. The cost is 7 x $70 + $20 service fee, so $510 in total, because the city-centre handover is free. With pickup and return at Tbilisi Airport, add $30 at each end. You pay 15% online to confirm and the rest at the car. The refundable deposit of about $200 comes back when you return it. The car rental prices page lists every fee.

Pickup in Tbilisi

We hand over Jeeps anywhere in Tbilisi city centre, for example at your hotel, at no extra fee. For night arrivals, our colleague meets you at Tbilisi Airport with a sign, at any hour. The handover takes about ten minutes: a walk around the car, photos, the contract and the deposit. The Tbilisi car rental page explains the city pickup in detail.

Questions about Jeep rental in Tbilisi

Is a Jeep necessary for Georgia?

No. Most sights are on paved roads. A Jeep rental in Tbilisi makes sense for comfort, winter or mountain gravel.

Can I take the Wrangler to Tusheti?

Talk to us first. The Abano pass is the hardest road in Georgia, and we usually suggest a Land Cruiser or our driver for it.

Can I return the Jeep in another city?

Yes. One-way rentals to Kutaisi, Batumi or Telavi are possible, and each end pays its own fee. See the locations and fees page.

In short, a Jeep rental in Tbilisi comes down to the roads on your plan: Renegade for the city, Cherokee for comfort, Wrangler for the mountains. All three are on our 4x4 and SUV rental page with live availability.
