The Land Cruiser 200 in Georgia is the biggest 4x4 we rent at $135 a day, and its older brother, the Land Cruiser 100 at $80, is the bargain of the heavy 4x4s. Guests ask which one to take for Tusheti, how much fuel they drink and whether seven people really fit. Here are the answers, with the road facts we use when we plan mountain trips.

The same terms as every car: insurance (CDW and TPL) and unlimited mileage included, a $20 service fee per booking, a refundable $200 cash deposit at pickup, drivers aged 22 and over, 15% paid online and the rest at pickup, free cancellation up to 48 hours before. Both get 5% off from 5 days and 10% off from 10 days until 15 December: ten days come to $1,215 in the 200 and $720 in the 100.
Where the Land Cruisers earn their price
- Tusheti. The Abano pass (2,850 m), four to five hours of dirt road from Pshaveli to Omalo, open roughly June to October. Both Land Cruisers are the cars the local drivers use. See Tusheti by 4x4.
- Khevsureti. Shatili and Mutso over the Datvisjvari pass (2,676 m), with river crossings after rain.
- Vashlovani. The badlands tracks in the far east of Kakheti, a park permit and no fuel for 100 km.
- Svaneti in winter. Snow-packed roads to Mestia and the Hatsvali lifts; the Zagari pass to Lentekhi in late summer.
- Seven people to the mountains. The 200 is the only car in the fleet that seats seven and climbs the Abano pass.
Where a cheaper car does the same job
Kakheti, the Tbilisi to Batumi highway, Gudauri and Kazbegi are asphalt. A Duster or a RAV4 covers them for half the price and a third of the fuel. Book a Land Cruiser for the dirt passes and for a group with gear, not for the city.

200 or 100?
For seven people or a long trip in comfort, the 200: newer, quieter, with the third row. For two to five people on a budget, the 100 does the same roads for $55 a day less, and it is the car most Tushetian drivers swear by.
How much fuel do they use?
About 17 litres per 100 km on asphalt and 20 or more on the passes. A Tusheti week of 800 km is roughly 150 litres. Fill up in Telavi or Pshaveli; there is no fuel station in Tusheti.
Is the 100 too old?
It is a 2002-2007 car, inspected before every handover like every car we deliver. The engine and the 4x4 are famous for a reason; the trade is an older cabin and no modern safety electronics.
Land Cruiser or Prado?
The Prado at $110 sits between them: smaller, easier to park, seven seats, less fuel. For Tusheti with seven people, the 200; for Tusheti with four, the Prado or the 100.
Can I take it to Armenia?
Ask us first. Cross-border trips need the $70 document option and our agreement on the car. For Armenia we usually suggest the Renegade or the CX-3, but a Land Cruiser is possible for a group.
