The Ford Fusion in Georgia is our hybrid sedan at $55 a day: a 2014-2016 car with about 5.5 litres per 100 km, a quiet cabin and a proper boot. It sits between the $35 Prius and the $60 Camry, and guests ask us every week which of the three to take. Here is the honest comparison, the roads the Fusion suits, and the facts behind the questions.

Where the Fusion is the right car
- Tbilisi to Batumi. 370 km for about 20 litres of petrol, cruise control on through the Rikoti tunnels. See Tbilisi to Batumi by car.
- Kakheti. The wineries, Sighnaghi and Telavi are asphalt, and the Gombori pass is paved.
- Tbilisi for work. Quiet in traffic, cheap to run, and easier to park than an SUV.
- A long loop on main roads. Kutaisi, Borjomi, the coast and back: the hybrid saves roughly 40 litres against a petrol SUV on a 1,000 km week.
Where it is not
Like the Prius and the Camry, the Fusion is a low front-wheel-drive sedan. Keep it off gravel (Juta, Ushguli, Tusheti, the David Gareja approach) and off the Jvari pass to Gudauri in snow. Kazbegi from April to November is fine on the paved road. For winter mountains, book a Duster or a Forester.
Ford Fusion in Georgia: your questions
Fusion, Prius or Camry?
The Prius is $35 and the cheapest to run. The Camry is $60 and the newest. The Fusion at $55 is the middle: a hybrid like the Prius, with the space and quiet of the Camry. Budget, Prius; newest car, Camry; comfort and low fuel together, Fusion.
Do I need to charge it?
No. The hybrid charges itself while driving and braking. You fill the petrol tank and return it full, like every car.
How big is the boot?
Two large suitcases and hand luggage. The hybrid battery takes some space, so for four people with four big bags take the Camry or a Highlander.
Does it have winter tyres?
Yes, in season. Winter tyres make it safe on cold, wet and lightly snowy roads in Tbilisi, Kakheti and the west; they do not make it a mountain car.
Can I take it to Armenia?
Ask us first. Cross-border trips need the $70 document option and our agreement on the car; for Armenia we usually suggest the Renegade or the CX-3.
Want a sedan for the highway and a 4x4 for one mountain weekend? Tell us the dates and we will prepare both bookings so the swap happens at our office in Tbilisi. Message us on WhatsApp (+995 591 89 60 60) and we will plan a custom route with you. We suggest the right car for the roads, pickup and drop-off in different cities, and honest driving times.
In short, the Ford Fusion in Georgia is the $55 hybrid sedan for Tbilisi, Kakheti and the long road to Batumi. Keep it on asphalt, and let us suggest a 4x4 for the passes.
