The same terms as every car: insurance (CDW and TPL) and unlimited mileage included, a $20 service fee per booking, a refundable $200 cash deposit at pickup, drivers aged 22 and over, 15% paid online and the rest at pickup, free cancellation up to 48 hours before. Where the Duster shines
- Gudauri and Kazbegi in winter. The Jvari pass (2,395 m) with chains in the boot, the Gergeti church road, and the Juta valley once the snow melts in May.
- Svaneti. Mestia on asphalt, then the 45 km gravel road to Ushguli at 2,100 m, Europe's highest village. Read Svaneti by car.
- Racha and the Shaori lake road, quiet and winding, from Kutaisi in 3 hours.
- David Gareja and Vashlovani in Kakheti's semi-desert, where the last stretches are dirt.
- Bakuriani and Borjomi with a ski rack in the back and five people in the car.
Where we suggest a bigger 4x4
Tusheti. The Abano pass (2,850 m) is a narrow dirt road with river crossings, open roughly from June to October. The Duster has driven it, but we prefer to send the Pajero, the Prado or the Land Cruiser 100 there, because a breakdown in Omalo is a long day for everyone. Renault Duster in Georgia: your questions
Is the Duster a real 4x4?
Yes. Our Dusters are the all-wheel-drive version with the dial for 2WD, Auto and Lock. Use Auto on wet or snowy asphalt and Lock on mud, gravel climbs and deep snow at low speed.
Will it get me to Gudauri in a snowstorm?
With winter tyres and chains, usually yes. However, the police close the pass in heavy snow for every car, so check the road status with us on the morning of the drive. Our winter guide to Gudauri explains the Kvesheti control point.
How many people and bags?
Five adults sit comfortably on a two-hour drive. For five people with five suitcases the boot is tight; put soft bags on the roof rails or take the Highlander.
Is it automatic?
Yes, every car in our fleet is automatic, including the Duster.
Can I take it to Armenia or Turkey?
