The Jeep Wrangler in Georgia is the car people book for the photo as much as for the road: a 2017-2023 Wrangler at $100 a day, five seats, automatic, and the most capable small 4x4 we rent. This post answers what guests ask about it, from Tusheti and river crossings to the fuel bill and the roof, with the road facts we use when we plan trips.

Where the Jeep Wrangler in Georgia earns its price
- Tusheti. The Abano pass (2,850 m), four to five hours of dirt road from Pshaveli to Omalo, open roughly June to October. The Wrangler is the car most guests picture for it. See Tusheti by 4x4.
- Shatili and Mutso. Over the Datvisjvari pass (2,676 m) with river crossings after rain; the short overhangs matter here.
- Juta and the Chaukhi massif. 20 km of gravel above Kazbegi, then the trail to the Abudelauri lakes on foot.
- Ushguli and the Zagari pass. The gravel road from Mestia and, in late summer, the pass to Lentekhi for a loop back to Kutaisi.
- Gudauri and Kazbegi in winter. Low range and winter tyres on the Jvari pass (2,395 m), chains in the boot for the Kvesheti control point.
Where a cheaper car does the same job
Tbilisi, Kakheti, the Tbilisi to Batumi highway and Gudauri in summer are asphalt. The Wrangler is loud at 110 km/h and thirsty, so for those trips a Duster or a RAV4 is the sensible choice. Book the Wrangler for the dirt, and for the pictures.
Jeep Wrangler in Georgia: your questions
Is it automatic?
Yes. Every car we rent is automatic, including the Wrangler.
How much fuel does it use?
About 15 litres per 100 km on asphalt and more on mountain roads. A 1,000 km week is roughly 150 to 180 litres; our post on fuel prices in Georgia has the pump prices.
Can I take the roof off?
Ask us when you book. The roof type depends on which Wrangler is free on your dates, and we explain the panels at pickup. Keep the roof on at night in the mountains; it gets cold at 2,000 m even in August.
Can it cross rivers?
Shallow fords on the Tusheti and Khevsureti roads, yes, slowly and in low range. Deep water and the Alazani in spring flood, no; the insurance excludes water damage, so ask us about the route first.
Wrangler or Prado for Tusheti?
Both do it. The Prado is $10 more, seats seven and rides softer; the Wrangler is more fun and easier on narrow switchbacks. For a couple, the Wrangler; for a family with gear, the Prado.
Can I take it to Armenia?
Ask us first. Cross-border trips need the $70 document option and our agreement on the car; for Armenia we usually suggest the Renegade or the CX-3.
Planning Tusheti, Shatili or Juta in the Wrangler? Send us the dates and the route. We confirm the car, the road status and the roof type, and we tell you honestly if a Prado or a Duster fits your group better. Message us on WhatsApp (+995 591 89 60 60) and we will plan a custom route with you. We suggest the right car for the roads, pickup and drop-off in different cities, and honest driving times.
In short, the Jeep Wrangler in Georgia is the $100-a-day car for dirt passes, river fords and the photos: Tusheti, Khevsureti, Juta and Ushguli. On asphalt, save the money and take a Duster.
